THE NORTH POLE
SVALBARD TO SVALBARD
MAE WEST CHALLENGE GOES ARCTIC
The Mae West will make an attempt to circumnavigate the North Pole, by sailing through both the North East Passage and the North West Passage.
WILLIWAW MEMORIAL EXPEDITION
With sail yacht Williwaw, under the Dutch flag, Willy de Roos sailed In 1977 the North West Passage.
The Mae West is almost identical to the Williwaw, will try sailing the NW Passage 40 years later. We carry the Willy de Roos story with us and will keep it opened next to todays reality.

CLIMATE CHANGE may bring more sailing difficulties.
The ice mass on the Arctic is under threat. During the record low there is still a lot of ice, 8 million square kilometers, floating around the Pole. The Polar ice has grown less thick and as it may break up earlier, the Arctic sailing routes may get choked with ice chunks more than ever before. The Mae West may meet its limits.
The expedition, sends observations and 'progress reports' to the civilised world.
